John has been out on the road with the String Wizards, playing a bunch of sold out shows in Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon and California.

He is currently planning a new CD with his lifelong buddy, Richard Dean. The hope is to return to Wales to work with Martin Levan and Stephen Ferron.

NoDepression Broken Knife 72

February 1, 2016:

NO DEPRESSION AND LEE ZIMMERMAN LIKE BROKEN KNIFE! “While this appears to be his first album, judging by the high level of his song craft, he clearly possesses a knack for affecting songs with a firm sense of purpose. “It’s alright,” he assures on the song of the same name, further proof of the power of affirmation as wielded by someone with the proper combination of sentiment and savvy. One terrific album, Broken Knife proves that point emphatically.” Read the whole review here: John McEuen on Broken Knife: “If John Cable had stayed in the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band we would have made some great recordings of his wonderful songs…His music touches a nerve in people, his voice is confident, yet ‘asking you to listen’ to the message.. not demanding, but bringing you into the unfolding story.
